Cover Story Nanothylakoids isolated from spinach exhibit unique peroxidase-like enzyme property and photothermal/photodynamic activities, which allow them to be used for efficient cancer therapy in vitro and in vivo. Especially, the peroxidase-like enzyme property of nanothylakoids imparts the selective cytotoxicity towards H2O2-overexpressed cancer cells due to the formation of cytotoxic hydroxyl radicals. The nature-inspired and facilely acquired theranostic materials hold great promise as potential candidates in multimodal cancer therapeutics (see the article by Zhao et al. on page 1971).
